QAMRA

VOLUNTEER

QAMRA would not be where it is today without the immense effort of our many volunteers.

We invite those who have a commitment towards issues of gender and sexuality rights and share our investment in sustaining a living and dynamic queer archive to help us build processes that will ease access for people who visit the archive in future while ensuring the safety of the material we currently house.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER:

For those interested in volunteering with us, send us your resume at qamraarchive@nls.ac.in. We will get back to you within 7-10 working days.

We do not require volunteers to have any specific educational or professional qualifications, and invite all those who are committed to our work to support us in any way they can. However, we only allow adult members (above the age of 18 years) to volunteer at QAMRA.

The immediate needs of the archive will determine whether we require a volunteer. We do not have the financial resources available to pay our volunteers. Once an application is submitted, you will be asked to visit us at the archive for an in-person meeting/online meeting with our staff. On the basis of this meeting, your application will be accepted or rejected. You will be duly informed of the outcome of your application via e-mail within 2 working days of our meeting.

Once accepted, you will be asked to fill out the Volunteer Form in English or the language of your choice. Please keep a copy for yourself and submit one duly filled copy to our staff. If assistance is required in reading or filling out the form, our staff will support you. We encourage you to read and follow the rules of the archive, to ensure the safety and preservation of the material.

WORKING HOURS:

QAMRA is open to volunteers from Monday to Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
